Hey, single parents.
You’re doing a great job.

If you’re a single parent, there will be days you feel tired and alone. Discouraged and disheartened. Remember, when you feel your most exhausted, just by loving the heck out of your little one/s, you're doing the best job ever.

Because that’s what parenting is, right? A job. And you’re killing it.

If you’re in the Vancouver area, and feel you could use a little (or lot of) extra support, there are people and organizations that can help you and your child/ren navigate this life chapter.

Here are some of our favourites:

Want to help single parents in your community?

If you are looking to make a difference in the life of a single parent, we recommend making a donation to any of the trusted organizations listed above. If you’re not in Vancouver, we have no doubt your region will have similar resources. It just may take a bit of googling.

If you’re not in a position to make a financial contribution, something as simple as an offer to babysit so that a parent can run errands, make it to a job interview, or just get out for a moment to breathe, can be a huge help. Drop off dinner, offer to pick-up the kids from school. Ask if there’s anything you can do to make their chalk-full life a bit more manageable.

In the meantime, just letting a single parent know what a great job they’re doing will go a long way.

Let’s get shoes on feet.

The MJDP Fund launched The Millipede Project with a goal of getting 500 Vancouver-area children-in-need a new pair of shoes. Why? Because if there’s one thing we know, it’s that kids’ feet grow, and they grow fast. And kicking butt is no easy task in ill-fitting shoes.

If you would like to buy a local child a new pair of shoes, make a $30 donation here.
